Tuesday 28th July - We're on our way!!

The team slowly started assembling at Bisley on the afternoon of the 27th. However a few hurdles stood in the way of team packing with the Captain and Adj stuck in traffic in Bracknell, a mislaid FAC and a broken down plane in Edinburgh.....good start! However once everyone had arrived we smashed through team packing in record time and set about preparing for the awful early start the next morning.

Some of the hardier members of the team thought for jet-lag reasons that an all-nighter would be appropriate whereas others snatched at the chance of a few hours kip! The team all managed to emerge on time (4am!!) for final weigh-ins, kit redistributions and a much needed cup of coffee! Our coach to Heathrow arrived at 0445 and after an obligatory team selfie we were loaded up and on the road for 0500.

Upon arrival at Heathrow we were greeted by very helpful Virgin staff who checked all the rifles in no time, despite the initial confusion when Virgin had no record of us travelling with firearms. After a spot of breakfast and some spending in the shops we headed to the gate for our flight only to be told we were delayed because the plane air-con had broken and the plane was “a bit hot”...groan! Maybe travelling in fleeces and tracksuit bottoms wasn’t the brightest idea! Once on the plane it was time to kick back and relax, watch some movies and sample the miniatures, oh and obviously get some sleep.

On arrival in Detroit we were greeted by the sweltering 35 degree heat. Thankfully we got through customs in what must be a record time without any problems before picking up our rental vans. A quick change of clothes and team selfie ensued before making our way to Port Clinton. We headed to the range to show the team where they would be shooting for the next few weeks before checking in at our new home, the Best Western.

After briefly checking over the rifles and freshening up, we headed down lakeside to Bootlegger's for a quick team meal before catching up on some much needed sleep. #LoveToTour #Path2Perry #WorldChamps
